Text Box: Residential Service Development

DDSN recently received generous funding from the Governor and General Assembly to provide additional services and supports. The funding will allow DDSN to offer residential supports to approximately 500 people statewide. There are currently nearly 1,900 people on DDSN’s residential waiting lists.

In undertaking this expansion effort DDSN will be giving priority to serving people on the Critical Waiting list, the Priority I waiting list and those who are living with Aging Caregivers. Service Coordinators have been contacting these groups to inquire about service needs and choice of provider.

It is important that consumers familiarize themselves with the Qualified Providers available. DDSN maintains a Qualified Provider List (QPL). When the time comes to make a decision about a provider—you need to make an informed choice. Call and visit these providers. Visit as many of the providers as you desire. Talk with them about what you want for your family member. Tell them your expectations. Ask if they can meet your expectations.

Your service coordinator can not choose your provider for you. But, your service coordinator can help you with contacting these Qualified Provider agencies. If you have questions or need assistance please call your service coordinator at 252-5179.

You can see the Qualified Provider List on the web at www.state.sc.us/ddsn/

When was the last time you checked your Smoke Detector?

Do you need a Carbon Monoxide Detector?

It’s that time of year.  It’s beginning to get cooler, and people use fireplaces and portable heaters.  The risk of fire or

carbon monoxide poisoning can increase.

Smoke Detectors and Carbon Monoxide Detectors Save Lives!

Be sure to change your batteries

 or

install a detector if you don’t have one.

Text Box: Estimated Annual Cost of Services

In order to assist families and to provide them better information about the cost of their services, DDSN is providing an estimated annual cost of services during the Single Plan process. Please remember that this cost is an ESTIMATE. If you have questions about the cost of your services please ask your service coordinator or early interventionist.
