Attention all service recipients and stakeholders! There is currently a bill in the Senate to make the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs a cabinet agency under the direct supervision of the governor of South Carolina. This bill is very important, and if passed will mean significant changes to the way DDSN is governed. If passed, DDSN would no longer be run by a 7 member Commission, but would have a state director appointed by the governor of South Carolina. To read the full version of this bill, please go to: https://www.scstatehouse.gov/sess125_2023-2024/bills/602.htm
To be heard, please speak to your state Senator or Representative. To find out who that is, go to: https://www.scstatehouse.gov/legislatorssearch.php
